IT'S ABOUT TO GO DOWN

The Bay Area, with Oakland as one of its jewels, is home to pivotal moments in Black history that have not only influenced California but also the entire nation. From the Black Panthers to the Fillmore District, often called the "Harlem of the West," the stories are as abundant as they are impactful.

The excitement feels like a chapter out of a living history book. Imagine standing on the very grounds where Black Panther leaders Huey Newton and Bobby Seale organized, or visiting the spaces where African American jazz musicians turned mere notes into a soul-stirring narrative. Picture yourself gazing at the murals and art installations that tell stories far deeper than the colors and shapes on their surfaces.

And don't forget the food! The Bay Area and Oakland are hubs for culinary excellence that showcase the African diaspora. From traditional soul food to African and Caribbean eateries, your taste buds will also go on a journey—one of rich flavors, complex spices, and comforting classics that have been reimagined by contemporary chefs.
